Catching Up with Me {September 2013}
This month my catching up post is going to be a little bit different. I want to tell you about a fun event we had in Minneapolis a couple of weeks ago! I was there with some wonderful foodie friends for a Que Rica Vida event. I am a regular contributor for the Que Rica Vida website and magazine, a General Mills brand.
I had the honor to be part of the small group of bloggers invited to this fabulous event. I arrived in Minneapolis airport on Monday afternoon, the company sent a car to pick me up and bring me to the hotel. After checking in and dropping off my bags at the Marquette hotel downtown, I got ready to meet the rest of the group for dinner.
The Que Rica Vida team hosted a delicious welcome dinner at Cafe Maude, a wonderful restaurant with terrific service and food that was absolutely delicious. We had an amazing array of appetizers and drinks, and for my main meal, I ordered the Maine Diver Scallops, which was incredible. The rest of the group ordered dessert, but I was super full so I passed, but they all looked really good. I had a wonderful time talking and getting to know the rest of the group. It felt like I'd known them for years, we had such a great time.
The next day started at 8:00am sharp, as we had a solid agenda at the General Mills headquarters. We had breakfast there as we dove right in to the various planned sessions scheduled throughout the day. We discussed how to make things better for the Que Rica Vida readers and how to take this wonderful brand a step further, while sharing our achievements and goals. Some of the other General Mills brands did presentations about their products. It was enlightening to learn so much about this amazing company.
That same day we had a guided tour of the General Mills facilities and for security reasons, picture taking was limited, which was actually kind of cool. The facilities are big, beautiful and comfortable, it looks just like a mini city and was very impressive! General Mills really seems to care about their employees and what's best for them. I am very proud to be part of the Que Rica Vida team!
We also had a tour of the General Mills archives and the lovely woman giving the tour was so passionate about her job and the company. It was a wonderful tour and it was very interesting to learn so much about General Mills and the brands' history.
I had intended to write about this event all in one post, but I think it's getting too long so, I’ll tell you all more about the event in another post this week. Stay tuned!! :-). Here is Part 2.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your time here in Minneapolis!!! I introduced your blog to my Colombian suegra 2 years ago and even though she's already a great cook of Colombian food, we both utilize your website and recipes at least once a month!! Thanks for everything you do (and for helping me get "brownie points" with my Colombian husband for cooking his favs!)
